LifeSavers

I had just gotten home from the super market.  I was sitting outside on the front porch.  I had a roll of lifesaves that I was carefully unwrapping and picking out the white ones.  They are were favorite.  I never understood/accepted why they assigned pineapple to the color white.

He was telling me ghost stories from out of an old tattered book.  It had an orange cover and an outline of a women dressed in an old fashioned 1800’s outfit.  First he told me about the monkeys paw.  A cautionary tale about being careful what you wish for.  In the end, an elderly couple wishes for their dead son and he comes bad as a zombie.  And then he read a story that I only vaguely recall.

There were 3 people huddled together in a boiler room.  I don’t remember why they were in there but they had locked themselves in.  They hear foot steps that are first faint but getting louder and louder.  It sounds like they are running barefoot towards the door.  The people running are getting closer and closer to the door.  When the reach it they start beating it down.  The group is screaming.

I don’t remember what the story was about, but I remember being really scared.
